Question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Initial idea

For more infomation about Secret Cinema click the picture above to be taken to their website

Our initial idea of our distributing media institution was the Secret Cinema. This institute is an events company specialising in "immersive cinema experiences", combining film screenings with themed venues and interactive performances. Although we have now decided that the Secret Cinema is not a suitable institution for our product, I have made a short video outlining possible advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Secret Cinema

Advantages

Disadvantages

Only well known films such as 'Back to the future' are scheduled to appear as an event.

As the objective of the Company is to keep the film unknown until last minute, unless the film is very popular no one would have heard of the film and the event would be less interactive as a result.

The films involved tend to have already been distributed. The compnay have not yet realeased an original film. This means ours wont be likely to be realeased.

Most of the films released have been reasonably high budget in comparion to our extremely low budget film.

Only would be released once in the event.

The element of mystery and interaction with the auidence is very origional and the experience would not be experienced elsewhere.

The company are usually released in a high media based city aka london. This would mean that our film could also be reconised by other Companies who attend.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Video sharing sites and Netflix

Advantages

Disadvantages

Netflix is widely accessable.

Once uploaded, the film can be seen gobally by everyone.

Can be easily shared and advertised online through social networking sites.

YouTube and Vimeo would be free to upload to.

Most people of this current generation have access to social media.

Not everyone has an account on netflix or youtube.

Unless uploaded on a popular Channel the film wouldn't be able to be seen as easily.

Netflix has a monthly fee that nt everyone can afford/ are willing to pay for.

Overall we have decided that we will share our film 'fatal' on video sharing sites such as Vimeo, YouTube and social networking sites e.g. Facebook, Twitter ect. By releasing our media product on all of our group's sites this will ensure we reach as many of our targeted audience as possible. This as a result requires no money to be able to post nor for the audience to watch meaning more people are likely to watch if they don't have to pay to watch our media. Also, in this current day and age, the majority of the public are all using social networking sites, most having easy access via portable smart phones on the go and personal computers and laptops in the household and at work.

The audience for my media product would be such individuals that have an interest in romance, action and crime mystery. Also, fans of Film Noir, those who have a fondness for tension and suspense supplied by this type of genre. Classic Film Noir, being at its peak from the early 40s to the early 50s, this media product shows nostalgia to older audiences. This production would also stand out to small independent, small budget film companies such as Warped Films and BFI. The age certificate is rated 15, indicating that viewers should be over the age of 15 before viewing this film. This is due to mild nudity and violence (Not including pain or visible injury). Although, the film does not include drug use or alcohol consumption. Film Noir pictures are usually made to be exhibited on small screens in small rooms rather than big cinemas. Other audiences include online viewers on video sharing websites such as Vimeo and YouTube with a possible consideration of Netflix. It would also be included in film festivals where the work would possibly be separated into the specific genres, shown to specific audiences that are interested in the relevant genre. This would not appeal to audiences of high budget actions films made by film companies such as Warner Bros. where there are use of costly equipment and high quality studios to produce a very detailed film.

Question 4: Who would be the audience for  your media product?
